"Titled Substitute City, this print is an offshoot of a film project I've been working on for a couple of years now (now renamed Dead Ringer). It borrows the format of Thom Andersen's 'Los Angeles Plays Itself', but features clips from cinema and television where Toronto is the location but not the setting. 

Substitute City is an altered transit map of Toronto, which includes fictional subway stops erected by American film and television crews. The work owes a debt to Metro Net (a subway line that ran from Greece to the Yukon) by Martin Kippenberger, The Frozen North by Buster Keaton, and the various altered maps distributed by transit activists." -  Dave Dyment
