This workshop explores polymer plate letterpress printing, which uses low-relief plastic plates mounted onto a base for printing. In the first virtual session, instructor Phoebe Todd-Parrish will introduce participants to the possibilities and limitations of polymer plate printing. She will guide them through optimizing designs, file setup, and plate creation in preparation for the hands-on studio session.
The second session takes place in person, where participants will print on the Vandercook 4T Proof Press. This session will cover multi-colour printing alignment, press maintenance, and troubleshooting plate production and cleanup.
Participants should have some familiarity with Photoshop and/or Illustrator and access to the software for file setup.
No prior letterpress experience is needed. Suitable for all levels.
