This screenprint, Zahaka, is one of eight prints produced with Rita Letendre at Open Studio between 1973 and 1979. This print is unsigned but has a stamp on the reverse marking it as archive proof OS292. Supporting documentation confirms this print as a Letendre print that was simply labeled as 'Purple' when it was being produced at the studio, and later titled 'Zahaka'. The numbered edition size of this print when it was released was 80. 

The final artwork Zahaka actually hangs vertically and it is possible that Letendre created the print at Open Studio and then decided to change the print’s orientation at a later date. Here we have framed it horizontally, in keeping with its OS history. This print contains six colour layers and was created at Open Studio with Richard Sewell and Eugene Mazzei. Sewell’s embossed artist's chop can be seen in the bottom right corner of the paper.
