Facing North – Self Impression was one of three prints created by Joyce Wieland at Open Studio in 1973. This ‘Open Studio Proof’ was collected for the studio’s print archive, and is a rare example of the lithograph as it was when it left the print studio before an additional lipstick ‘kiss’ was added.
The original numbered edition size of the released print was an edition of 50. The lithograph portion of this print was printed with Don Holman, the then-Director of Lithography, whose embossed artist chop can be seen in the bottom right corner of the paper, alongside Steve Mackenzie, and Ed Zingraff.
Signed: Joyce Wieland bottom right
Provenance: Open Studio print archive.
