Comets Tell of Great Distances Travelled is a folio of five screenprints that visualize the dates when Halley’s comet has been visible from earth, building on Groombridge’s ongoing exploration of perception, measurement, and time. It was created in 1989 when Groombridge was a Guest Artist at Open Studio.
This folio of screenprints is signed as the second of two ‘Open Studio Proofs’ that were assigned to the Open Studio print archive. The original numbered edition size of this print was an edition of 20. It was printed with Lily Yung. Each print features the embossed OS chop in the bottom left corner of the paper.
