Collection: Liz Menard

Liz Menard is a Toronto-based printmaker, visual artist, and educator working in drawing, painting, installation, book arts, and printmaking. Her practice explores landscapes, with a particular focus on water systems—fens, bogs, streams, rivers, and lakes—and the biodiversity they support. Increasingly concerned with environmental conservation, she highlights the need to protect native species and fragile ecosystems.

As a printmaker, Menard employs etching, aquatint, drypoint, chine-collé, collograph, and hand-colouring. She prints on Western and Japanese papers, as well as vintage textiles, often incorporating hand-stitching. Her process embraces spontaneity, texture, and the delicate balance between strength and fragility, reflecting the landscapes she depicts.
