Barbara Balfour

Barbara Balfour is an interdisciplinary print media artist and educator who has exhibited and lectured internationally. She has collaborated with artist collectives and worked with renowned artists like Leon Golub. Her practice explores print installation, artist’s books, text-based art, and the body in abstraction. Balfour’s research focuses on reproduction, mortality, and expanded print media in the 21st century. She joined York University’s Visual Arts Department in 1999, teaching print media and interdisciplinary courses, and was appointed Full Professor in 2016.
