Collection: Sean Caulfield
Sean Caulfield is a Professor in the Department of Art and Design at the University of Alberta, currently living and working in Treaty Six territory in Edmonton, Alberta. He was a Canada Research Chair in Fine Arts (Tier 2) from 2001 to 2011 and a Centennial Professor from 2011 to 2021. Caulfield is known for his work in prints, drawings, installations, and artist’s books, which have been exhibited widely across Canada, the U.S., Europe, and Japan. Notable exhibitions include Found Anatomies (2022), The Flood (2016), The Body in Question(s) (2012), and Perceptions of Promise (2011).
He has received multiple prestigious awards and grants, such as the Special Award of the Rector (Krakow Triennial), SSHRC grants, and a Visual Arts Fellowship from the Illinois Arts Council. His work is held in major collections, including Harvard’s Houghton Library, the Fitzwilliam Museum at Cambridge, and the Blanton Museum of Art in Texas. In 2017, he was elected to the Royal Society of Canada’s Arts Division.
