Collection: Samsam Elmi

Samsam Elmi is a Toronto based artist. Her practice focuses on the exploration of mark-making through drawn imagery and the manipulation of objects. Drawing inspiration from film noir, macro photographs and the human form, she has utilized various printmaking processes to depict an organically evolving thought process.

This has manifested itself through the highlighting of words with double meanings, cyclical thought processes, the chronicling of deteriorating forms and interest in comparing representation of physical objects versus personal interpretations. Through her practice Elmi explores visual representation of thoughts and the inner mind.
