Kinngait artist Jamasie Pitseolak is best known for his depictions of everyday objects used in both the North and South. These include things like vehicles, furniture, instruments, shoes, sports equipment, flowers and more, typically done on a small scale. In "Midway," Pitseolak has created a miniature airplane out of green serpentinite stone complete with a movable propeller. But there's more to this airplane than meets the eye: at first reminiscent of an innocent children's toy, attached on its underside is a WWII-style bomb, perhaps poignantly reflecting on the dichotomy of good and evil or the relationship between violence and play.
