Statement
I believe that printmaking, when practiced by the artist is a significant art medium unto itself. After graduating with a specialty in printmaking from the Ontario College of Art and later teaching there, I studied “mokuhanga” (colour woodcut on Japanese paper) in Japan. Wanting to achieve qualities of light, transparency and place, mokuhanga facilitates my desires through nuanced carving of the woodblock surface, impressions of varying textures, layers and intensities on Japanese mulberry paper.
